Though I am now an adult, every September still brings back memories of those first few weeks of school starting again when I was kid. I want to talk real quick about the importance of family time and how to keep that family bond strong during the stressful school year.
The beginning of the September for me meant that the relaxing summer fun days were over and that it was now time to get right back into a daily schedule of lots of school work, school work, school work, sports activities, and then more school work followed by bedtime. For me one of the greatest things my parents could have done was strongly emphasize the importance of a sit down family dinner every week night (unless totally impossible due to a rare work related dinner gathering or a school/sports performance). I knew that no matter which of my parents house I was at, I would be expected to sit down at the table to a nice healthy meal while conversing with them for an hour or so. It seemed like I always learned the most in our small dinner conversations while it also gave me structure and helped to teach me the importance of a well balanced meal.
Here is an article I found by The Family Dinner Project who I think touched very well on the benefits of this.
I also found some delicious looking, quick and easy recipes on health.com that I wanted to share here with you guys.
This meal I thought looked especially appealing and seemed like a well balance meal, especially if paired with a fresh salad and sparkling water.
A screen shot of the meal image along with the ingredients/cooking directions, as well as the link, are down below.
